FUNCTION OF THE POSITION

Joining on a contractual basis, as an In-flight Operations Lead the Contractor will be required to support the Flight Operations Manager.

Responsible for overseeing an improved customer satisfaction within flight, whilst managing Cabin Crew HR and ER matters. Duties will include collaborating with Food and Beverage Manager and Guest Relations Manager, to ensure an elevated guest satisfaction. Act as a person responsible for liaising with aircraft operator, cabin crew department.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

White Desert Africa is the South African logistics subsidiary White Desert Limited, a UK-based tourism company providing luxury tours of Antarctica. This role is office based in Cape Town and will generally have normal working hours, except for occasions when overtime work may be required.

KEY ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In this role you have accountability for ER (Employee Relations) within the Cabin Crew area. You’ll give credible advice, weighing up the HR (Human Resources) strategy,
  • You’ll keep up to date with current and forthcoming employment legislation and have awareness of topical HR matters; and have responsibility to help interpret and communicate it to the business.
  • Ensure company policies are adhered too,
  • Design and compile relative processes and procedures,
  • Ensure all safety measures are observed,
  • Pre and post flight briefings and reports,
  • Cooperation with the crew and leadership,
  • Human factors and crew resource management (CRM),
  • Safety management system (SMS)

REPORTING ARRANGEMENTS

This role report to the Flight Operations Manager.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS

  • Fluent in both spoken and written English
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration / Public Administration or Management
  • Previous customer service, first class service experience (Desirable)
  • Be the holder of a current EASA cabin crew attestation or have held the attestation (Advantageous)
  • Previous experience in a hospitality, preferably at a managerial position
  • Hold a valid passport (with minimum 12 months before expiry date) with unrestricted right work and travel globally.
  • To undergo Criminal Record Check in the previous five years and be able to provide satisfactory references for the last five years.
  • Be willing and able to work shifts covering 24 hours a day, 7days a week, 365 days a year
  • Be able to based Cape Town, South Africa

This is a 4 to 6 month contract role, with no offer of permanency. Preference is given to South African (or with valid work permit) residents, Cape Town based individuals who are immediately available.
